A 12-day trip on rented e-MTBs through the best part of the Annapurna Circuit, following canyons beneath the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges, without crossing Thorong La. For riders with 2-3 years of experience who can handle unpaved roads and steep descents.
A 16-day expedition up the Annapurna Circuit to Manang, with rest days and side rides there before a long descent; the April 2025 edition crossed Thorong La Pass (5,416 m). The organiser rates it 5/5 for fitness, the hardest trip in the club.
This was my third time riding the Annapurna Circuit.
This time I rode an e-MTB up to Yak Kharka and the Tilicho Lake trailhead, then down to Pokhara.
The e-MTB was a whole new world: an easy pace, time for the scenery, smiles all the way.
A Korean cook and two assistants joined us, so we had full Korean meals throughout.
Someday I'd like to add Mustang to the ride.

The Annapurna Circuit, number one on my bucket list, done on an e-MTB.
Six riding days within a 10-night, 12-day trip: five days of climbing and one of descent.
Day one was a 40 km climb from Besisahar to Dharapani (1,860 m).
Daytime temperatures of 18-23°C were ideal, and the trip leader's Korean lunch kept us going.
Everyone in the group finished safely; it went beyond what I had hoped for.

Our lodge sat at about 3,500 m, with clouds drifting below our feet.
The trail was rough, more rock than snow, mostly climbing at 10-18%.
After four days of riding, we hiked to a monastery around 4,000 m to acclimatize for Thorong La.
A Nepal ride with the trip leader and nine riders.
Climbing a narrow mountainside trail, the snowy peaks of Annapurna opened up like a panorama.
I pedaled steadily up to Yak Kharka at 4,050 m without any sign of altitude sickness.
Foreign trekkers cheered us at the top of a climb, and reaching the goal felt like a huge achievement.
